1 CU = 1 second of active time on a small sandbox (2 vCPU, 4 GB). A large sandbox (4 vCPU, 8 GB) bills at 2 CU per second. Your $5 base fee includes 54,348 CU per month.
You only pay for active time
Sandboxes pause automatically after 5 minutes of idle. Paused time costs nothing, so a session can live for weeks while only billing for minutes of actual work.

Active time is any second a sandbox is running — your agent is executing code, responding to messages, or holding an open dev server. After 5 minutes of idle, the sandbox pauses automatically and stops consuming compute units. Resuming is near-instant when you send the next message, and most users stay well within the included $5 because of this.
When should I use a small vs large sandbox?
Small (2 vCPU, 4 GB) is good for most apps — around $0.33/hour beyond the included quota. Large (4 vCPU, 8 GB) is for memory-heavy workloads like Next.js production builds or large monorepos — around $0.66/hour. You pick a size per project and can change it anytime.
Do I need a Claude subscription?
Yes. Lot runs the infrastructure; model inference runs on your own Claude Pro/Max subscription or Anthropic API key, which you connect during project setup. We don't mark up or resell Claude — your $5 covers sandboxes, orchestration, and the workspace. Either a Pro/Max token or an API key works.
What happens if I run out of included hours?
Overage is billed automatically at $0.000092/CU (about $0.33/hour on small, $0.66/hour on large). Your sessions keep running uninterrupted; the usage shows up on your next invoice.
Do unused hours roll over?
No. The 54,348 included CU reset at the start of each billing cycle.
